Program Guide
Well after few days of fiddling about with getting the program guide working I discovered that the Default Location has changed to New York which had knocked out the tvtv program guide for my freeview. The program guide on my Archos 605 looked nothing like that on my freeview box. I’d tried to set program recording up and for some reason it was recording th wrong channel at the wrong time. Well I had a few spare hours last night and decided to get it cracked. Looked on the archos fans forums and found somebody else had the same issue. Doh - it was the location which was affecting the program guide download - double doh - I’m sure I’d set the location when I first got the device but perhaps not. Well changed the location and used ArchosLink to update via the usb rather than over wifi (much quicker and I was transfering some movies at the time). BINGO - program guide now matches my freeview box.
Archos and DVR
OK - so decided to test out the recording via the DVR. Went through all the settings to configure the DVR Infrared settings to switch on my freeview box and change the cannels. Set the channel list to reflect BBC Scotland/ITV region and picked a program to record. The first test was the Gadget Show - well come on it had to be. Set it up and then turned off my freeview box and walked away. 20 minutes into the Gadget Show program I went back to the Archos and all was well - recording perfectly. After the show I checked the recording and all was perfect so I set up to record a couple of motorsports programs on 5 during the middle of the night and this moring both had recorded without a hitch. JOB DONE.
Radio Times - my programmes
I’ve now set myself up with an account on the Radio Times website to alert me when my faviourite programmes are on so I can set them to record on the Archos. Just need to remember to turn off my freeview when I dock the Archos with the DVR.
